Service description
Examiniser provides educational tools, generated maths questions, exam paper resources, and related study features for students, teachers, and self-directed learners. The Dashboard additionally provides organisations (shared workspaces), classrooms, teacher-managed student accounts, homework/assignment creation, submission and marking, daily practice, and classroom analytics and rankings.
The Student portal is a separate, cookie-authenticated experience where learners with a teacher-created username and password can view homework, practise questions, complete daily challenges, and see their own progress.
Organisations and workspaces
An organisation is a shared workspace for a school, department or tutoring group. You can create an organisation, be invited to one by email, and switch your active organisation in the Dashboard. The active organisation is remembered via localStorage and the X-Organisation-Id header.
Each organisation has an owner who can rename the organisation, manage billing, invite and remove members, change roles, transfer ownership, or delete the organisation. Admins share most management powers; other roles (such as teacher or viewer) have more limited permissions as shown in the Dashboard.
Invites are sent by email, can expire, and must be accepted before access is granted. You may leave an organisation at any time; the owner may remove members. Deleting an organisation is permanent and removes its classrooms, students and homework for all members.
Classrooms
Classrooms live inside an organisation and group students by stage — primary, secondary or sixth-form. When you create a classroom you provide a name (unique within the organisation, case-insensitive), a stage, and optional badge text (up to 5 characters) and badge colour.
A classroom shows its student count, creation date and roster. Only empty classrooms can be deleted. Students can be transferred between classrooms within the same organisation.
You are responsible for keeping classroom names accurate and for not creating classrooms that infringe the rights of others or violate applicable law.
Student accounts — teacher responsibilities
Student accounts are created and managed by teachers within their organisation. Students do not self-register. As a teacher you provide a username (3–30 characters, unique per organisation; the @org-slug suffix is added automatically), a password that meets the complexity rules (8+ characters with lowercase, uppercase, number and special character), an optional display name and exam board, and a classroom assignment.
You may create students one-by-one or in bulk via a CSV upload (up to 2,000 rows and 2 MB per file, with columns username, full_name, password, classroom, exam_board). The upload is atomic: if any row fails validation — including duplicate usernames within the file or against existing records, unknown classrooms, or weak passwords — the entire import is rejected and no students are created.
As the creator of student accounts, you confirm that you have a lawful basis to provide each learner's data and, where the learner is a child, that you have obtained any required parental or institutional consent and have informed parents/guardians that Examiniser will process the data as a processor on your organisation's behalf. You must securely share initial passwords with learners, encourage them to keep credentials private, and promptly update or delete records when a learner leaves or consent is withdrawn.
Students sign in at the Student portal with their username and password. Authentication uses an HttpOnly cookie; possession of a valid session grants access to that student's homework and practice. You and your students must not share accounts, reuse weak passwords, or attempt to access another student's account.
Homework, assignments and learning data
Teachers with permission to assign homework can create homework for a classroom by choosing topics, subtopics, education level and settings such as number of questions, pass percentage, progression mode, timing and allowed attempts. Examiniser generates a snapshot of questions (including LaTeX, answers, options and marks) at creation time so the assignment is stable even if the question generator later changes.
Students complete homework in the Student portal. Examiniser records per-question attempts (including correctness, number of tries, skips and time taken) and per-topic results, plus completion status and total time. Teachers can view submissions, scores, analytics and rankings per classroom; students can review their own progress.
Homework has a limit of 500 assignments per organisation (MAX_HOMEWORK_PER_ORG). Billing is usage-based: assignment blocks are charged at £1.00 per 500 assignments (ceil(count/500) blocks), and your organisation may also be charged for active classrooms and students depending on your plan. Usage is metered per billing period and invoiced via Stripe; deleting assignments does not retroactively reduce the current period's metered peak.
You retain ownership of homework content and question snapshots you create (see User Content). You must not use homework to distribute unlawful, harmful or infringing material.
Acceptable use
- Use the site for lawful educational, research, or personal productivity purposes, including managing classes and assigning learning material.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape abusively, reverse engineer protected systems, or interfere with other users' access — including bypassing organisation access controls, brute-forcing student logins, or bulk-creating accounts outside the provided CSV flow.
- Do not use the site in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of others. Do not upload CSV files containing personal data you have no right to provide, and do not create student accounts for individuals who have not consented or for whom your organisation is not entitled to act.
- Keep credentials secure. Teachers must safeguard student initial passwords; students must not share their username and password. Report suspected compromise promptly.
- Respect the integrity of learning analytics — do not attempt to falsify submissions, manipulate rankings or streaks, or automate homework completion.
Educational content and accuracy
Examiniser aims to provide useful educational material, but the service is offered on an as-available basis. Generated questions, worked solutions, homework snapshots and other outputs may occasionally contain mistakes or omissions.
You are responsible for checking whether material is suitable for your own classroom, study plan, or assessment purpose before assigning or relying on it.
Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the Examiniser website design, branding, code, text, and question generator remain the property of the site owner or its licensors.
Exam papers, questions, homework snapshots and other educational content generated using Examiniser are not proprietary - you may freely use, share, adapt, and distribute them for any purpose.
External services and links
The site may include links to external services such as analytics providers or hosted exam-paper assets. Examiniser is not responsible for the content or policies of third-party services.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Examiniser is provided without guarantees of uninterrupted availability, correctness, or suitability for a particular purpose.
The site owner is not liable for losses arising from use of the website, reliance on generated material, classroom or homework management, or temporary unavailability of the service.
Contact and updates
Questions about these terms can be sent to examiniser@gmail.com.
These terms may be updated as the site changes — for example when organisations, classrooms, student or homework features evolve. Last updated: 17 September 2026.
Eligibility and age restriction
You must be at least 13 years of age to create a teacher account and use Examiniser. If you are between 13 and 16 (or the age of digital consent in your country), you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
If you are under 13, you must not create a teacher account or provide personal data without verified parental consent. Student accounts for learners under 13 may only be created by a teacher/organisation that has obtained verified parental consent and acts as the data controller for those records. By creating any account, you represent that you meet these eligibility requirements and, where applicable, have the necessary consents.
Account registration (teachers)
- Teacher accounts are created by signing in with Google or Microsoft via Firebase Authentication. You are responsible for maintaining access to your chosen third-party login method.
- You must not share your teacher account credentials or allow others to use your account. You must not create multiple teacher accounts to evade limits or billing.
- Organisation membership is granted via invites. Accepting an invite binds you to the organisation's workspace rules and role-based permissions (owner, admin, and other roles). Roles can be changed by the owner/admin and determine whether you can manage classrooms, manage students, assign homework, or manage billing.
- Examiniser may suspend or terminate teacher or student accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behaviour, including misuse of bulk import or attempts to bypass authentication.
Subscriptions, billing and payment
Premium and organisation features are billed per organisation through Stripe. An organisation is billed based on its usage in each billing period — including active classrooms, active students, and assignment blocks (£1 per 500 assignments, ceil). The Dashboard's Billing section shows the current period, usage, and history.
An organisation must have a payment method on file to create students, create homework, or allow student logins, depending on the workspace configuration. If the payment method is removed, those classroom and student features may be blocked until a payment method is added back. Fixes include adding a payment method via Setup Billing or Update Payment Method, which redirects to Stripe and returns to the Dashboard.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access to premium features continues until the end of the current billing period. Outstanding invoices remain payable after cancellation.
If you are based in the UK or EU, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of your first subscription payment and receive a full refund. After the cancellation period, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact examiniser@gmail.com with any billing questions.
Roles and permissions
Access within an organisation is controlled by roles. The owner can manage the organisation, billing, members, classrooms, students and homework. Admins typically share the same powers except for deleting the organisation or transferring ownership. More limited roles may only view or use assigned features.
You must only use the permissions granted to you and must not attempt to escalate privileges or access data from another organisation. Switching organisations is an explicit action; caches are cleared on switch to prevent cross-workspace leakage.
Termination
You may delete your teacher account and associated data at any time through the settings page. Organisation owners may delete the organisation (and its classrooms, students and homework) where permitted; members may leave an organisation.
Deleting student accounts or empty classrooms is available to members with permission to manage students/classrooms. Examiniser reserves the right to restrict or terminate access to the site for users who violate these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from the use of Examiniser shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in our Copyright & DMCA Policy limits rights or obligations under applicable law, including the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 or the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) where relevant.
Modification of service
Examiniser reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service — including Dashboard, classroom, student or homework features — at any time.
Pricing and subscription terms, including per-classroom, per-student and per-assignment-block rates, may be updated. Users will be notified of material changes through the site, the Dashboard, or by email.
User content
You retain ownership of any exam papers, questions, homework assignments, question snapshots, and other content you create using Examiniser.
By using the service, you grant Examiniser a non-exclusive licence to store, display, and process your content — including classroom rosters, student records and homework submissions — solely for the purpose of providing the service to you and to learners in your organisation.
Privacy
Use of Examiniser is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains how your data — including organisation, classroom, student and homework data — is collected, used, and shared.
